Cherishly helps you remember birthdays, anniversaries and catch-ups. The details you keep here are about people you care about, so we hold as little as possible and never sell any of it.
Who is responsible
Cherishly is the data controller for the information described below. Questions, requests or complaints: hello@cherishly.life.
What we store
- Your account: email address and sign-in details.
- The people you add: names, nicknames, relationships, groups, phone numbers and email addresses you choose to enter.
- Dates and notes you save against those people.
- Your reminder preferences, calendar feed link and notification device registrations.
- Basic technical logs needed to keep the service running and secure.
Why we store it
To provide the service you asked for: showing your countdowns, sending the reminders you switched on, and syncing your list between your devices. That is our contractual basis. We keep security logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
Who can see it
Only you. Your records are locked to your account at database level, so no other user can read them. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, and we never post anything anywhere on your behalf.
We use a small number of processors to run the service: our cloud hosting and database provider, our email sending provider (only if you switch email reminders on), and the browser notification services operated by Apple, Google and Mozilla (only if you switch lock-screen alerts on). When you use the quick-add feature, the sentence you type is sent to our AI provider to read the name and date out of it; it is not used to train models.
If you subscribe to Cherishly Plus, the payment is handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record. Paddle collects the billing details and card information needed to take the payment and to work out any tax due, under its own privacy notice. Cherishly never receives or stores your card number; we keep only the subscription reference, its status and the renewal date, so we know your account has Plus.
Where it is stored
Data is stored on servers in the EU or UK. Where a processor operates outside that area, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Delete your account in Settings and your people, dates, notes and reminder settings are removed immediately. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your rights
- Export everything you have stored, as a file, from Settings.
- Delete your account and all of its contents, from Settings.
- Correct anything inaccurate by editing it directly.
- Object to processing, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
Cherishly is not intended for use by under-16s.
Changes
If we change anything meaningful here, we will say so on this page and, for significant changes, by email.
